In order to support the mission of the school, SPX depends upon and greatly appreciates active parent participation in the form of service to the SPX community. In addition, research shows that students are more successful
when their parents are actively involved with their school.
All volunteers must complete a Criminal Background Check,
sign the Code of Conduct, and complete Safe Environment Training.

Each family commits themselves to complete a minimum of 24 service hours (12 service hours per single parent household/deployed parent household) within a school year. The hours can be served by a parent, grandparents or a family memeber who is 18 years of age or older.

Safe Environment Training
The Archdiocese of San Antonio requires all adult volunteers who minister to children/youth to complete Adult Safe Environment Training. Training is required to be renewed every three years. The Archdiocese of San Antonio is currently using Protecting God's Children developed by Virtus to educate adults on abuse prevention. If you will be volunteering at St. Pius X Catholic School, please take the on-line training.

Once training is complete and your record has been approved, you will be able to print your certificate. St. Pius X Catholic School will also be able to receive confirmation of your training.

- Attending a School Council Mtg - Helping with a Classroom Party
The following event is eligible for TWO (2) Service Hours per person, per event:
- Attending Theology on Tap at the St. Pius X Church
The following event is eligible for THREE (3) Service Hours per person, per event:
- Field Trip Chaperone
The following events are eligible for a maximum of TEN (10) Service Hours per family per event:
- CYO Coach
- Parish Festival
The following events are eligible for ACTUAL TIME WORKED per person, per event:
- Gala
- Halloween Carnival
- Field Days
- Bike Rodeo
- Volunteer Substitute Teacher
- Volunteer Office worker
- Volunteer Library worker
- Home Room Parent
- School Sports Gate/Concessions
- CYO Gate/Concessions
- Summer maintenance work 2 hours credit for every hour worked
